In the weeks since the killing of George Floyd, the thumping drone of these machines has become a fixture of life here in Brooklyn. (That, and [the fireworks](https://gothamist.com/news/illegal-fireworks-soar- nyc-complaints-2020).) They were back again this afternoon as peaceful crowds gathered to observe the Juneteenth holiday, and to protest.
